Never underestimate the power of imagery

In this time of instant messaging, e-mail and continual internet updates, people have become accustomed to visual stimulus in every setting.  Many of us have trained ourselves to make subconscious decisions very quickly and move on to the next task. Because our time is so valuable, it is critical to create pleasing, easily recognizable visual stimulus if we intend to compete in today’s marketplace. The time and effort you put into creating your business’s identity through a thoughtful logo and concise tagline will speak volumes about your company without you uttering a word.  This is a critical component of establishing the ideal image and positioning yourself within your target market, but it doesn’t end there.

To a certain extent, every contact you have with someone or a business is an element of self-promotion, image. It helps if all the messages you send add up to a consistent overall picture of who you are and what you do. Typically, your logo in an advertising, internet or business suite setting is the first communication with a prospective client, and provides you with the opportunity to establish a solid first impression. Make sure you have put the time and thought in to identifying a clear vision of yourself, your business and the kind of work you do. Be consistent in your choice of theme, logo treatment, color palette, etc. over all promotions to support the image you have established in the client’s mind. Since your clients’ jobs depend on the hiring the right people for projects, your image needs to reinforce the decision that you are the right person for the job.

Whether you  are trying to grow your business, or are happy with where you are and just want to maintain the client base you have, it’s important to show existing and prospective clients the way you think, how you solve problems and what you can bring to the assignment. The return on your investment will be a successful promotion for your most important client -you.
